Since its founding in 2009, Kansas City, Mo.-based Smith Electric Vehicles has made waves in the electric vehicle and commercial transportation industries. Smith saw a unique opportunity to apply electric-vehicle technology to commercial vehicles, medium- to heavy-duty trucks, vans and buses that operate on fixed routes. The company also saw a need to stand out in the blossoming industry and draw a distinction between electric commercial vehicles and electric passenger vehicles.

From its humble beginnings in 2009 to its purchase of U.K. “parent” company in 2011, to its public offering on the NASDAQ in 2012, Smith counted on Pinkston every step of the way. As a result of our work, Smith earned coverage for its innovative business model and revolutionary products in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, NBC News, Bloomberg Businessweek and Forbes, among many others, as well as numerous trade publications covering transportation, trucking and alternative energy issues.

As part of this campaign, Pinkston also coordinated numerous special events, including a July 2010 visit by President Barack Obama to Smith’s manufacturing facility and product demonstrations on Capitol Hill and in New York City.
