Christian founded Pinkston with the goal of creating a strategic communications firm with the flexibility and ingenuity to provide individualized solutions for clients in a wide range of industries.
He set out to provide smarter, more strategic public relations services focused on positioning individuals, companies and nonprofit entities as leaders in their fields.
A frequent speaker and writer on communications, innovation and entrepreneurship, Christian has counseled clients including AIG, Facebook, Ford Motor Co., Stryker Corporation, Morgan Stanley, the Consumer Electronics Show and many others through periods of growth, crisis, reorganization and transition, helping them launch companies and products, strengthen brand awareness, build thought-leadership platforms and publish and promote books. He advises thought leaders including Steve Forbes, Steve Case and numerous CEOs and New York Times best-selling authors.
Over the past 17 years, Christian and his partners have grown Pinkston into a national firm with staff from coast to coast and an eclectic global client base of innovators and difference makers.
Along the way, Pinkston’s work has been recognized with multiple awards, such as PR Week’s Nonprofit Campaign of the Year for the Ronald Reagan Centennial, as well as other awards, including for positioning campaigns for patient-safety advocate Dr. Marty Makary and Consumer Technology Association CEO Gary Shapiro.
Understanding the growing role owned media -- such as social media platforms, websites, apps, digital marketing and video content -- play in a successful communications campaign, Christian and his team have expanded and adapted consistently to offer clients access to integrated social media, web development, graphic design and video-production services. By bringing these services in house, Pinkston's combined expertise ensures that all elements of a client’s campaign adhere to the same strategic and messaging guidelines, while streamlining the creative process and maximizing value for clients.
Prior to founding Pinkston, Christian was vice president of public policy at Ogilvy Public Relations. He previously served as executive director and communications director at one of Washington’s most respected and influential political institutions.
He also has directed communications for a presidential campaign, been the spokesman for two former Cabinet officials, and served on the staffs of a congressman from California and a U.S. senator from Maine.
