John Lovett

As a Senior Research Manager, John supports clients by helping to develop data-driven insights that inform thought leadership and strategy in firms.

John was previously a Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University, and had taught American Politics at a variety of schools after receiving his PhD in Political Science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2016. He has extensive experience in quantitative data analysis and research, with particular focus on analysis of media, the United States Congress, and Public Policy. He is also the co-author of multiple academic works and the author of The Politics of Herding Cats: When Congressional Leaders Fail, published by the University of Michigan Press in 2021.

In addition to his PhD, John received his B.A. from Wheaton College (Massachusetts), and M.A.s in political science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is originally from Western Massachusetts, but has lived up and down the east coast, and is currently based in the DC area.
