Senior Marketing Copywriter

Position Summary

The Senior Marketing Copywriter will create and implement engaging written content across a variety of platforms (including but not limited to digital). This role will be responsible for developing powerful, impactful written content that resonates with the reader and drives action. The Senior Marketing Copywriter originates and prepares written or other digital material, such as scripts, posts, stories, and other materials for various marketing campaigns with lead generation goals in mind.

  • Status: Exempt Salaried

  • Work Location: Falls Church, Virginia

  • Travel: May require travel to attend meetings, conferences, and training across the country

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversees and executes content development for marketing and branding activities for large-scale marketing campaigns

  • Ensures completeness, correctness, and readability of materials, as well as alignment of individual materials to overall organizational or program communication goals

  • Specializes in time developing content and using social media and government platforms for content dissemination

  • Originates and prepares written or other digital material, such as scripts, posts, stories, and other material

  • Creative ability to produce unique content that is relevant to the sector or subject area and speaks the client’s language

  • Produce clear and compelling content that engages target audiences via digital platforms including Social media, Website (SEO), Blogs, Video and PPC

  • Understand and share the optimal / best practice for digital copy (e.g. the ideal character length of a LinkedIn organic post, etc.) and develop best practice templates to support this

  • Research competitor activity and present insight / opportunities for campaign activity

  • Write and edit social media content, articles, talking points, leadership and beneficiary briefings, and video and audio scripts in coordination with the client

  • Compose written content that is consistent with the client’s style and tone; understand and build on brand guidelines, tone of voice and image

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience or Master’s degree and 3 years’ experience

  • Strong writing skills

  • Knowledge of AP style (preferred)

  • Previous marketing experience

  • Ability to multitask

  • Delegation and coordination of specific tasks in an effective manner

  • Software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, spreadsheet (Excel) and database applications and salesforce.com
