The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about 1) digital media strategies and 2) using that knowledge to create tangible traction for our clients.

Our Digital Media Team serves clients with the latest top-of-funnel customer awareness and engagement strategies in video, research, web design & development, paid digital strategies, messaging and branding support. This team works closely with our other teams to develop and design digital media strategies and execution which support our client’s key communication objectives. We are hiring a digital media director to join our experienced, cross-disciplinary team.

This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Falls Church, VA.


  • Oversee an internal team serving multiple clients to establish paid media plans and develop robust client media recommendations.

  • Collaborate across earned media, creative and other teams to coordinate custom media plans and outcomes.

  • Map out paid media advertising campaigns for clients to achieve brand awareness and lead generation goals.

  • Develop and maintain regular monthly client reports.

  • Report to senior management about strategic direction of client relationships.

  • Incorporate the latest media innovations into measurable outputs for client needs.

  • Administer media budgets and performance guidelines to optimize client satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with digital publishers to curate media plans and organize paid campaigns.

  • Develop clear goals and metrics with monitoring systems to ensure client requests and expectations are met and exceeded.

Necessary Skills/Attributes:

  • 8-10+ years of digital media experience across social, search, and programmatic; agency experience preferred

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, media/digital, or communications fields preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with Pinkston internal team as well as external developers to develop media strategy specific to each client

  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments, urgent requests and high performance expectations

  • Proven experience and track record of strategy development and execution for a wide range of media platforms

  • A strong strategic thinker: well organized, possessing a keen eye for detail and having a structured, logical approach to problem solving. Driven to always deliver exceptional work to clients.

  • Embraces the greater vision of building the client organization toward betterment for individuals, communities and industries

  • Technical and strategic understanding of paid media, including paid search, social and display

  • Experience in creating and delivering customer presentations, including deriving campaign insights and recommendations from data

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for knowledge and personal growth

  • Management experience, including managing a team

  • Proven ability to assist/lead in team resourcing and utilization as well as prioritization
